Understanding Mrigshira: The Nakshatra of Curiosity and Action
Published on in Nakshatra
Mrighshira, the nakshatra which is ruled by Mars along with deity Soma; and so, the combination of Mars and Moon shows consciousness and emotions converted into actions. As this nakshatra’s padas fall both in the sign of Taurus and Gemini, the externalization and individualization of a human takes place mainly in the Gemini padas. Where, if an individual has Moon in Taurus in Mrigshira, they will develop great awareness of one’s senses and physical pleasures; but that awareness will demand great action and multiplicity of both sensual and material thought in Gemini.
The animal nature within man, as represented by the head of an antelope under Mrigshira nakshatra ruled by Soma, manifests in a refined, good, pure, and calm way even though being a Martian nakshatra. As the animal and both the planets, Mars and Moon, are wandering, impulsive, and fickle in nature, so are the Mrighshira born.
Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva, is another deity of Mrigshira nakshatra where the qualities of dare and charm, joyness, divinity, and compassion manifest in the character. As Mars is fiery and Moon is calm, the two opposite energies play a role in this nakshatra where the person can be calm on the outside with extreme ambition and passion for life.
As this nakshatra is falling from the passive Taurus to active Gemini, the curiosity and search for answers is at a peak in this nakshatra. If this search goes in a wrong way, it makes Mrigshira natives the most sensual and passionate, leading to infinite affairs outside marriage (which the deity Soma is famous for); but if the search is for a better life, then the Mrigshira born can make one truly successful. They just do not stick at one thing and jump onto another, because of which, nothing lasts long in their lives. They are suspicious in nature along with great artistic and practical thinking.
Padas (Quarters) of Mrigshira
-
The first pada is ruled by Sun, where the combined energy of Mars and Sun makes it unyielding in nature with great ability to take on anything in life, but still in a very creative way.
-
The second pada is ruled by Mercury, which gives calculated, analytical ability to the nakshatra.
-
The third pada is ruled by Venus, which gives extreme sensuality, sex appeal, and artistic talent.
-
The fourth pada is ruled by Mars, where the energy is focused on active action of emotions mainly based on impulsiveness, anger, and irritation; but if well placed, can manifest great divine energy within.
