On the auspicious day of Janmashtami, let's dive into some stories of the most beloved deity, Shri Krishna ji, and understand the astrological essence behind his destined birth.

Shri Krishna ji was born in the Bhadrapada month, which is considered a Kalyankari—a blessed and auspicious—month. His birth occurred on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha, at night, under the Rohini Nakshatra.

The lord of the Ashtami tithi is Rahu, while the Rohini nakshatra's lord is the Moon. This gave Shri Krishna the nourishing traits needed to manifest all beautiful living things. The presence of such a strong Moon during his night birth in the Krishna Paksha was to spread light when darkness prevailed due to Kansa's rule. The exalted Moon in the Ashtami tithi of Rahu acts as an illusion remover, and Krishna's lessening of Arjuna's burden in the Mahabharata, which led to the text of the Bhagavad Gita, is a prime example of this.

At night, the feminine energy is stronger, giving way to the strength of nocturnal planets like the Moon, Venus, and Mars. The energy is converted into constructive deeds instead of destructive uses of power. Therefore, the energy of Krishna's exalted Mars due to his night birth gave very auspicious results, and his courageous deeds turned into positive manifestations for the people, allowing his militant nature to work in favor of society.

The Moon is more feminine and soft than Venus. Krishna's auspicious Ashtami birth helped females who were wedded to him to be blessed and emit the pinnacle of spirituality. This spirituality is nourishing and peaceful due to its feminine state, as it is the energy emission of Venus and the Moon, which enlightens our Earth.

Krishna loved to play around females and cows and loved to eat curd, where the dominance of the Moon played a main role in his life. The three nakshatras of the Moon—Rohini, Hasta, and Shraavana—fall in the earthy signs of Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, respectively. This highlights the earthy nature of the Moon, while its watery element signifies that the purpose of his birth was to nourish the Earth and manifest life.

Krishna, as an avatar of Vishnu, has the dominance of mercurial strength. In palmistry, the little finger is the finger of Mercury, representing intellect and wit. Krishna lifting the Govardhan Parvat (mountain) on his little finger during a deadly flood caused by the wrath of Indra Dev was done with the intention of showing that the wisdom of intellect wins over ego.

Here, the perfect reason for Krishna's birth exactly when it manifested is explained, along with the hidden lesson that when you find yourself with psychological issues, you should devote yourself to the nourishing lunar energy of Krishna.
