Capricorn (मकर)

Capricorn is the sign ruled by Saturn, which represents deeds and hard work done by an individual without the thought of something in return. It is the sign of karma, perseverance, and responsibility, where an individual's energy, if channelized and given direction, can help attain any goal the person pursues, and so Mars exalts here. As Saturn is the planet of mysticism and superstition, having foolishness with a lack of wisdom and discrimination, Jupiter debilitates in this sign, meaning the native works without having the right knowledge. It is pure in its nature, and so the goat with a single horn (unicorn) is the animal representation of Capricorn.

Qualities of renunciation and self-sacrifice are developed. Under the energy of Capricorn, one initiates yogic practices to attain spiritual powers and develop one’s consciousness of purity. The need for sexual embrace, material attainments, and other pleasures means nothing under this sign, and pure karma for uplifting oneself as a human being is manifested. The animal Makar (crocodile) is also a representation of Capricorn, where no one except God can counteract the mouth grip of the crocodile. This symbolizes Capricorn energy in a way where the individual gets no choice but to walk the path chosen for them. One has to live life within the restricted boundary created by the Makar, Capricorn. The nakshatra of Uttara Ashadha (Sun) illuminates the path for one to walk, Shravana (Moon) gives the patience and ability to listen to the dialogue of the universe to realize one’s purpose, and finally, Dhanistha (Mars) helps in accumulation and abundance in all aspects for the one who works without question or expectations.
